Abdullah on Prayer: There is no prayer unless it accompanies righteousness

October 31, 2016

Malik ibn Al-Harith reported: It was said to Abdullah ibn Yazeed, may Allah be pleased with him, “Indeed, this person prays a long time!” Abdullah said, “Verily, the prayer is only beneficial if it causes obedience.”

Abdullah ibn Mas’ud, may Allah be pleased with him, said, “There is no prayer if the prayer does not prohibit him, and the obedience of prayer is that it prohibits him from immorality and evil.”
