Hadith on Supplications: Do not supplicate so loudly, for Allah is Hearing and Seeing

February 1, 2013

Abu Musa reported: We were with the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, during a journey when the people began to exalt Allah loudly. The Prophet said, “O people, be gentle with yourselves for you are not calling upon one who is deaf or absent. Rather, you are calling upon the Hearing, the Seeing.” I was behind the Prophet and I said to myself, “There is no power or might but with Allah.” The Prophet said, “O Abdullah ibn Qais, say: There is no power or might but with Allah. Verily, it is a treasure among the treasures of Paradise.” Or the Prophet said, “Shall I not tell you about a treasure among the treasures of Paradise? Say: There is no power or might but with Allah.”
