Hadith on Divorce: The Prophet divorces a woman from the husband who beat her

January 17, 2013

Habeeba bint Sahl reported: She was the wife of Thabit ibn Qais  and one morning the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him,  left his house and found her at his door. The Prophet said, “Who is this?” She said, “I am Habeeba bint Sahl.” The Prophet said, “What is the matter?” She said, “Thabit and I can no longer be married.” Thabit came and the Prophet said to him, “This is Habibah and she has mentioned whatever Allah has willed her to mention.” She said, “O Messenger of Allah, I have everything he has given me.” The Prophet said, “Take what she owes you.” So he took it from her and she returned to her family.
