Hadith on David: Prophet David would recite scripture and eat what he earned from working with his hands

Abu Huraira reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “The recitation of scripture was made easy for David. He would order that his riding animal be saddled, and he would finish his recitation before they were saddled, and he would never eat except from the earnings of his own hand’s work.”

عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ عَنْ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ خُفِّفَ عَلَى دَاوُدَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام الْقُرْآنُ فَكَانَ يَأْمُرُ بِدَوَابِّهِ فَتُسْرَجُ فَيَقْرَأُ الْقُرْآنَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تُسْرَجَ دَوَابُّهُ وَلَا يَأْكُلُ إِلَّا مِنْ عَمَلِ يَدِهِ
